Toody is jealous that it is my birthday and she doesn’t get all the attention. #pug #puppy (Taken with instagram)
There is a sense of movement one gets while on the road. It is contagious and seeps into the very marrow of your bones. A slow transformation that is silent until suddenly you realize you have been in one place for way to long. Instant gratification and thrill becomes your necessities and quiet subtleties are less pleasing. The fast life, the drifter life, it’s a tiring life. I can’t wait to be home but I hope that once I get there I will be able to cleanse this movement from my core and settle softly back into my life of subtle beautiful change.
On Day two…
we ventured toward Chicago. We stopped in this quaint little town called Dexer, Il for gas. It was picture pefrect and lovely and very very small. We followed some signs to get some chocolates and ended up venturing into some lady’s grandma decor basement. Out of which we procured some chocolates, they were ok, the experience was meh, we hit the highway again. We drove and drove until we reached the outskirts of Chicago. We then tried to procure a hotel by calling Choice and discovered tthat everything was either sold out or super expensive so we ended up staying just outside of the city and obtaining the very last room at a hotel. It was the handicap room so we had a special toilet and shower which flooded the entire bathroom…also the hallways reminded me of The Shining (see pic)
In the Morning we ventured into Chicago (yay, our first fun thing)
we went to The Bean, which was really neat. I could have stared at it for hours, but I mean it was a reflective surface. The we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. I loved this and it look me a very long time to gaze and admire all the art, Auliya flew through it. This ended up taking longer than the time we had alotted for it and we had to skip going to the pier :( we were going to get chicago style pizza for lunch but the wait was too long so we grabbed a quick sammie ant Snarfs and then hit the road again. This time headed for Canada.
We Drove for awhile and ended up in Melvindale, MI. Another very small town that people haven’t heard of. Our Comfort Inn was fairly nice and arriving there at 9 pm we decided to go see Dark Shadows (a movie Auliya wanted to see) there wasn’t a theater in town so we trekked on down to Southgate, MI where they had a VAST theater. There must have been 200 cars in the parking lot. I guess that is wat the town does on Friday nights the movie sucked but it was an interesting experiance. Melvindale was so small that when we told the ticket guy we were staying there he instantly knew we were at the Comfort Inn.
Alright here is a belated account of my road trip, since i finally have a second to breath.
Day One
On our first day we drove eight hours or so from Longmont to good ol’ Omaha, NE. It smelled like poop. We saw lots of cows or “Big Toody’s” as we call them but Nebraska cows are sad because they live in big groups in crappy muddy small fenced areas, not like the free-roaming cows of Colorado. In Omaha we stayed at a Comfort Inn and discovered the choice priveledges program of which we became members so that we could get stuff, minor unimportant hotel detail. Anywho, we stayed at the comfort inn at the zoo, which apparently was right next to the zoo. We didn;t go but we could see this awesome shiny dome structure protruding from the area and we might go if we have time on the way back (I’m pretty sure we won’t there is never enough time) The front desk lady saidd it was the top 3 Zoo on country and people come all the way from Kansas City to go (not that far away) but the Hotel was nice andd we got upgraded to a big room which gave us plenty of space to do our 20 min yoga video in the morning. We had a continental breakfast and then set out for Chicago…
